We diligently listen to our customers and community and discovered a concerning pattern; many people gave up milk due to what they thought was lactose intolerance. While common, many symptoms and discomfort stem from an allergic reaction to the A1 protein casein.
Today’s dairy cattle typically produce milk containing A1 beta-casein and A2 proteins. The discomfort linked to A1 is what causes these digestive problems for many.
A1 / A2
Regular milk contains a combination of A1 & A2 proteins.
Digest issues after consuming milk may be caused by sensitivity to the A1 beta-casein protein (found in most regular milk today). This can cause inflammation and symptoms similar to lactose intolerance.
A2 / A2
Sarah Fresh cows naturally produce only A2 A2 protein.
A2 A2 is an all natural milk the can be easier to digest and packed with essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin D, Calcium, and Omega-3 fatty acids, supporting strong bones and overall health.

At Sarah Fresh, we wanted the overall benefits of milk with only the A2/A2 protein, so we proactively began breeding our cattle to produce milk with the A2/A2 protein. We now have all our milk products solely with the A2/A2 protein.

Our customers are thrilled to be enjoying milk again, and their positive feedback confirms that we’re on the right path! While some other dairies sell A2 milk, their products often come at a premium price, are harder to find, and can be ultra-processed at very high temperatures for distribution and shelf life, compromising some vitamins and proteins.
